IJS Brings New Talent Into One Team

The Integrated Justice System (IJS) Programme welcomed new colleagues at a meet-and-greet session on Tuesday, 18 August 2026. Led by Acting Deputy Director-General: ICT, Ms Tumelo Zwane, alongside IJS Programme Head, Mr Nicholas Munyai, the session gave colleagues a chance to connect and strengthen the relationships needed to advance the IJS mandate.

The People Behind the Programme

Ms Zwane opened by sharing three things about herself, including her roots in Gqeberha and her love of swimming and travel, and invited colleagues to do the same. The introductions revealed long-serving colleagues who carry institutional knowledge, alongside interns and newer team members bringing fresh perspectives. Together, they cover technical, legal, project, business intelligence, change management, knowledge management and programme management capabilities.

Experience Meets Fresh Thinking

“IJS has the right skillset and mix of mature and young talent,” Ms Zwane said. She encouraged the team to combine these strengths to drive innovation, pointing to opportunities in artificial intelligence, business intelligence and data-driven decision-making, including AI-enabled dashboards and chatbots. With both technology and legal expertise in its ranks, she noted, IJS is well placed to contribute to thought leadership on AI policy, legislation and data governance.

Showing the Value of IJS

Ms Zwane emphasised that the programme must demonstrate its value to government. “The people who matter the most ought to know what we have done,” she said, committing to help remove barriers through her relationships across the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security cluster.

Colleagues will be profiled in upcoming editions of the IJS newsletter, recognising the people whose shared commitment is making justice work better for the people of South Africa.
