IJS Enhances IPM Support at Mabopane Police Station

On 17 April 2026, SAPS Technology Management Services (TMS) and the Integrated Justice System (IJS) Programme Management Office conducted a change readiness assessment at SAPS Mabopane Police Station, led by Station Commander Colonel Sithole, as part of the Integrated Person Management (IPM) system rollout.

The IPM system streamlines suspect processing across the justice value chain, reducing administrative delays and improving case management. The assessment evaluated station preparedness across infrastructure, training, staff capacity, and leadership readiness.

Colonel Sithole and station management participated actively in the assessment, providing valuable insights into operational needs and resource requirements. Key areas examined included network connectivity, hardware availability, staff computer literacy, and integration with existing systems such as CASS, ICDMS, and EMPRAS.

The engagement emphasized collaborative planning and stakeholder coordination, particularly with court management, to ensure smooth implementation. Drawing from lessons learned during the Johannesburg Central pilot, the IJS team prioritized understanding Mabopane's unique operational context and capacity needs.

Station leadership highlighted the importance of adequate resources, stable infrastructure, and comprehensive training to support successful adoption. The assessment covered 44 readiness criteria across leadership buy-in, technical readiness, training needs, and change management.

The IJS PMO's proactive engagement approach ensures that IPM implementation addresses real operational needs while building organizational capacity. Insights from the assessment will inform targeted training programmes, resource allocation, and tailored support for SAPS Mabopane.

This collaborative model positions the station for a successful transition to IPM, supporting the broader IJS vision of seamless integration across all member departments.
